I use my dutch ovens constantly. It's one of the workhorses of the kitchen. It can go from the stovetop straight o the oven. It can bake bread, simmer stew, or roast a whole chicken. Traditionally, they are made from cast iron, hold heat exceptionally well. Alternatively, dutch ovens made from stainless steel also have the same functions at a more reasonable price, although it doesn't hold heat as long as cast iron.
