The Secret Ingredient to the Best Grilled Cheese Ever.



I didn't realize how good my grilled cheese was until I made one for my step-son and he said it was the best he ever had. I just made my mom's recipe. What I didn't realize was that she did something that not everyone does: used mayonnaise on the outside of the bread! That's right. Mayo. Because it's a mixture of oil and egg, it browns the bread, and leaves it crisp, and it has a slight tangy-ness that blends perfectly with the sharpness of the cheese. No one will know it's there, but it makes the biggest difference.
